Love a morning jog? You’re about to get tens of thousands of running buddies.
The 2022 NOBULL Crossfit Games are coming to Alliant Energy Center this Wed., Aug. 3-Sun., Aug. 7, culminating a year of qualifying competitions in eight cities nationwide. The so-called “Woodstock of fitness” will bring a runner’s contact high to Madison — not to mention all sorts of closures + traffic.

🏃 The Games
Events will kick off right at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, and continue through the closing ceremony at Alliant’s Beer Garden on Sunday afternoon. Workouts can be found on the CrossFit Games website.
Tickets come in two flavors: Festival Only tickets get you access to outdoor events, while the Colosseum packages get you a seat inside the colosseum. Festival day passes start at $25, while all-week Colosseum packages are on resale starting at $400. Plus, you can watch from home.
Three themed appreciation days will grant community members free Festival tickets: - Wed., Aug 3 | Firefighters, healthcare + law enforcement
-
Thurs., Aug 4 | Teachers + school administrators
- Fri., Aug 5 | Military personnel
Spectators should visit the fan experience guide to navigate the various venues + schedules. 🚦 Traffic, closures + impact
Roads around Alliant will be… what’s a nice way to say “pandemonium?” Expect heavy traffic near Rimrock Road, Alliant Energy Center Way, Olin Avenue, John Nolen Drive, and Rusk Avenue. Plus, CrossFit teased an offsite event that will close the 100 block of State Street on Thurs.-Fri. Quann Park will be closed for the CrossFit campground + overflow parking until Aug. 14. Need a place to take your dog in the meantime? We’ve got you. A handful of gyms will also be taken over by CrossFit, but will offer classes, seminars + walk-ins for fans and locals alike.
Lastly, if all this activity has you in the orange zone already, just take a deep breath and count back from $12 million — the local economic impact Madison can expect from the event.
