Hello Friday.
March 29 2024
Did you make a New Year’s resolution to move more this year? Or maybe a New Year’s intention?
Either way, we know the hardest part can be deciding what kind of movement actually makes you want to lace up those sneakers — or maybe even take them off.
Luckily, we’re here to spot you: break up your indoor exercise routine with these activities that bring the outdoors in.
For those wanting to reach new heights
Maybe you’re used to bouldering Devil’s Lake or solo climbing at Governor Dodge. Luckily, Boulders Climbing Gym has 8,000 sqft of climbing walls + bouldering at both of its locations, plus gear rentals and training. And if you need a little more, the training room with weights comes free with a membership or day pass.

For those looking to groove
If you’ve got a song in your heart, don’t let the weather slow you down. Barrio Dance Studio + Dance Life Studio offer all sorts of dance classes, some geared toward exercise and some just to cut footloose. Check out Barrio for contemporary, jazz, Latin, and heels classes + Dance Life for belly dance, burlesque, ballet + cardio dance classes both in-person and online.
For those who want a more traditional workout
Thinking about the shoes-off option? Pull out your old yoga mat and warm up at Inner Fire Yoga. With 2 locations, yogis can flow in-person or virtually + new members can try out the first month for $45. Looking to add a little bit of spice to your routine? Dragonfly Hot Yoga’s 4 locations have got you covered with cardio barre, power flow, yin, and power up classes. Try out its in-person and virtual classes for $40 for the first month.

Editor's Pick: City Editor Audrey here 👋 After countless Midwestern winters, I still haven't perfected my winter gear game. Even with layers of clothes, insulated boots + thick gloves, I still feel frozen to my core — especially after 608today's cross-country skiing excursion. Let me know if you have any local recs for places to find the warmest (and slightly fashionable) winter weather gear.
